I am most interested in the ways in which craft--woodworking, house crafting, cabinet making, and metal working-is being transformed into labor. As a supplement to traditional sculptural and industrial methods, I consistently rely on reclaimed/ recycled materials and/or parts made from disassembled, low quality products from consumer marketed "category killer" stores-Home Depot, Lowes, Target, etc. The way these objects are now manufactured shipped and assembled instead of built robs any creation of the possibility of having an identity. Everyone-from the manufacturer, to the builder, to the consumer-is disconnected from the products with which they are associated.

I find that common materials and a solid construction make the work physically tangible to the viewer. I am actively trying to deconstruct the precious stigma associated with the gallery space, and engage the viewer by inviting physical, often tactile interaction with works.
